Day 5
A lot of information was handed out in a very short time. Being Professional is sort of common sense. Think about your appearance and manners in front of others and act upon that. The quote " Think before you act" now has new meaning. Planning is like what you learn in the teaching program to make lesson plans. Being a leader, manager, and director is the tougher of the lessons learned. It's not the learning how to do it, it's the applying. Also having a long term goal when thinking of the library is a little of a stretch for me. Policy and procedures are something to be looked into. I already checked and the last time they were updated was 2008, so I need to go over them with the board. This class gave me a lot more things to think about, as far as what I am suppose to be doing as the director. I'm glad to know it's ok to think about yourself sometimes and that when the day is done, the day is done. My driving experience there and back was very scary, but it proved to me that I can do it. Now that I think about it, I think that's the attitude I'm going to take. I can do it, just got to keep trying. Overall it was very tiring.

I am so glad you had a safe trip back and I feel the same way. I proved to myself that I can do it. I haven't been on a trip by myself in 20 years at least. Yeah for us!! I will take to heart the things we've learned so far as well and I am already looking forward to next year.
ReplyDeleteThe class gave me a lot to think about too. A lot of information but all of it so helpful. I am thankful you got home safe and sound. I know we can all do this! We have each other for support and encouragement!
ReplyDeleteThe class was very intense and full of more information we can use. Now we get to see how much we will be able to incorporate into what we are already doing. Glenda, sorry I didn't get to say goodbye, you are truly an inspiration to me and have more faith in yourself!
ReplyDeleteYou have the toughness and tenacity to transform your library and your community. There will be plenty of opportunities to use the skills we learned. If we start to feel lost with so much to do, we can turn to one another, that big thick notebook, and all we learned from the PLMI speakers. You will do fine. your are brave.
